No, it doesn't take long at all. Most of the people that get critiqued might feel like it's a personal attack, and get defensive, and strike back.
Some people don't like it when people tell them that are hypocrites.

I'll agree with you on the fact that most Atheists "believe" that there is no God, and defend that disbelief to the death. I've always wondered if that disbelief isn't a sort of faith of it's own.

And I loved your pointing out that prayers and spells almost work the same way. They both require belief that something will happen.

Part of it that some Christians have very narrow, dogmatic viewpoints. They think that Christianity is the only religion that is valid and they believe in things that they can't explain or have no experience in, only blind faith in. So coming from that kind of limited viewpoint, their 'critiques' are often more irritating than convincing. People aren't angry with them because they have been found out, but because they've been criticized from a very immature viewpoint.

Unfortunately you're right---but it shouldn't be that way.
We all have opinions and different beliefs, but that does not give anyone the right to demean another.

I have respect for the various beliefs of others,i.e. the wiccans, the pagans, the buddhists and etc....even though I'm not familiar with their belief system, I respect their freedom of choice.

When you critique ANYONE here it doesn't take long for the name calling to start. So what is your point?

I think everyone would be a lot happier if they weren't called names... and that means BOTH sides.
