I can tell you that the 2005 Honda Accord got 5 stars on all of their crash test ratings!! That's what I would go for. Especially since you have children. Hondas really are reliable, comfortable, and if they break...the parts are easy/cheap to replace. If I had children, I would much rather spend 200 dollars on them, rather than a car.

The 2005 Accord will be great because it'll be cheap, you'll be able to get special financing at a dealership for one, it looks nice, and it gets excellent gas mileage.

depends on well.. a lot of things. But Volvos are really safe and if you are up for an SUV, the Volvo XC90 is awesome. You feel like you are driving a tank in the safety sense. Plus, room for kids and stroller and groceries.
