It seems that each time I answer a question, if I mention that I practice Voodoo, I get thumbs down more than usual!!!! Why?

Hey, I'm Muslim and I get thumbbed-down just because of that. But to you, your religion, to me, mine (that's in the Qur'an).

I've spent a lot of time in Haiti.
I've seen Voodoo performed en masse.
After six months of watching it, it began to resemble another well-known ritual involving blood, sacrifice and chanting. Called "Mass".
Seriously though, after seeing it done with my own eyes as an objective observer, I can say there's nothing - NOTHING - inherantly evil, malign or harmful about it. Strange? A bit maybe. But the differences are largely cultural and not religious.

People give thumbs down for things they don't agree with. I get thumbs down when I say I'm a Christian, the atheists get thumbs down for being atheists, etc. A lot of people around here don't like people who don't believe what they do, but there's a few nice/accepting folk.

lol well it wasn't from me, cause i'm in the same shoes. as a practising witch for many years, even if the answer is an opinion type and i state my religion so people can understand my perspective, i get thumbs down!
silly isn't it?
i have friends who practise voodoo and they're really great people (not to mention amazing drummers! check em out, google dragon ritual drummers)

Oh yeah, when people don't like what you believe they give you thumbs down. You can answer a question with your belief and there are some idiots who will give you a thumbs down.

Stuff like that is often misunderstood. From an uneducated point of view, it all looks very much like black magic stuff. Not saying it is, mind you, but that's the rap that type of stuff gets. And being a sensitive (I'm a medium and clairsentient/clairaudient), that type of thing freaks me out. lol But TBH.... it a woman who'd learned a bit of voodoo, among other things, that cleaned a demon out of my house I couldn't get rid of myself. I highly repsect her.
I personally say to each his own. I mean, as long as you're not hurting people with it (and I don't think you do)...what business is it of mine, you know?

People believe the Hollywood hype about voodoo and don't investigate into what it really is. I have respect for the belief. I live not far from New Orleans.

I'm sorry to hear that! It seems some will not even listen to you if your view differs from theirs, a sad way to live.
I have no problem with it, though. After all, you've never told me I'm going someplace bad for not believing as you do!
