I want to be able to watch movies while driving back and forth to college, but stores won't do it for me. Any ideas how to make it work?

First of all, it's a factory system, so the wires aren't labeled. Second, it's very unlikely that there's a parking brake input on the back of the factory Nav system; the unit is connected to the vehicle LAN-bus, so it probably reads the parking brake status off the network. Third, even if you could trick it into thinking the parking brake is set, it STILL isn't going to play movies while you're driving. It's a NAVIGATION system, for God's sake; it knows when you're moving.

For all these reasons, what you want to do is probably impossible. That's lucky for the rest of us, and good thinking by GM, who otherwise would be sued into bankruptcy the next time a college student watching "Girls Gone Wild" while driving slaughtered a family of six.

First of all is illegal, so if you do it is your own responsability.
It should have a wire on the navigation that says parking brake, if that's the case connect this wire to the chassis or any ground wire, when the parking brake is pressed, it allows the current to flow in the switch, when this happens it turns on the DVD, by connecting the wire to the chassis or ground wire, the nav is tricked into beleive the parking brake is activated.

they have by-pass modules you can purchase after market. i forget the name of it but the story is it tricks the system to work while you are driving. as for the parking brake wire that may work, it may not. i have used that method on a few screens i installed, but with my alpine iva-d310 i had it needed a by-pass. anyway good luck to you and be careful when you are driving. if you get pulled and the screen is playing a movie/game you WILL receive some sort of a ticket (got two from experience lol)
