My tattoo isn't scabbing, itching, and appears to be barely peeling if at all, is this normal?

I got it, on Saturday and it is now Wednesday, about five days ago.

I used a&d for the first 2 days and now I'm using Lubriderm lotion which I find I have to apply regularly or it becomes dry and irritated.

Isn't it supposed to scab, itch, and peel?

It is pretty much the left half of a leg sleeve on my right leg. A very large tattoo, and also my first.

Also it never bled and I've never had ink fall out onto my hand or a paper towel or clothing.
There was some blood plasma on the surface the first night of the tattoo as normal and it was washed away with mild, plain, antibacterial soap.

NO!! Scabbing is bad!! Itching is pretty normal as it starts to heal and you'll experience some peeling, but not much.

You're taking great care of it, so keep up what you're doing. It's good to use Lubriderm, but don't overdue it. Use a thin layer, don't gob it on there. Give the skin a chance to heal up on it's own.

If you start to itch, resist it and just slap the area with your hand instead.

Give it some time to heal. This usually takes about 2 weeks or less than. But I don't know about the scabbing. You probably scratched the tattoo? But you aren't supposed to do this. Just pat the itchy area gently and go ahead with that Lubriderm lotion.

Everyone's skin heals differently. You're lucky to have skin that recovers quickly. If you're that worried about it give your studio a call. It never hurts to ask. But your tattoo sounds like it's healing fine. Just keep doing what you're doing. Keeping it moist (but not too moist) is very important. Lubiderm is a good lotion to use when your tattoo isn't an open wound anymore meaning it isn't bleeding. Hope I could help! Good luck! :)

the stuff that is peeling IS the scab. the scabs aren't like hard gross thick scabs, that is prevented by the things you are moisturizing it with. usually the itching starts for me right at the time that it starts peeling. but everybody is different. it all sounds normal to me.
