Make sure you're in a dark and quiet room...Turn on the radio, not loud but just enough where you can hear it....Is your bed comfortable? Make sure your room is not too hot or cold...Like in the summertime don't sleep with any heavy sheets and have a fan going..In the winter time cover up and still have a fan going...There's something about a fan that just soothes me.....If you still have trouble going to sleep than count to 100.....

try to do something or the other all through the day so that at the end of the day u'll become tired n mostly u'll feel sleepy. then other way is to wake early in the morning so that the whole day u'll be awake n at the end of the day u'll feel sleepy. other way is by reading any novels which i interesting for u but has got almost small letters which can be read without strain but still is small this will make ur eyes tired when u read this on the bed itself n u'll ultimately feel like sleeping.

Meditate before bed. Doesn't have to be anything esoteric; just lie on your back fully relaxed and breathe deeply, concentrating on the rise and fall of your chest. Exhale and channel all your stresses through your fingers and toes. Do this for 10-20 minutes, and you'll see that you'll get knocked right out and stay asleep.

Change the sheets in your bed so they are clean and fresh...a confy bed makes u want to nuzzle in.
Also...a warm shower (make it short) always works for me.
Make sure to turn off the tv and stereo...and close the blinds so your room is nice and dark.

If that still doesn't work, take a spoonfull of nyquil. In 10, 15 minutes that stuff will put you out!

Take Melatonin supplements before bedtime.. they help regulate your sleep and are all natural. They are also recommended if you are overwhelmed by stress.
Other then that, don't exercise before bed or late in the day, turn off the TV, try changign the sheets or pillows (this sounds weird but it can make a difference), count sheep... it worked for me before!

I use this herbal tea called tension tamer. It’s made with chamomile and other natural herbs. I would consider it very close to a valume, but natural of course. It’s made by celistal seasons (not sure if that the correct spelling). You can find it in you nearest grocery store in the tea aisle. It’s in a blue box with a green dragon on it. Good Luck!!!

maybe you're not ready for bed yet.you could listen to music or read a book to let your body know that its time to slow down and sleep then go back to bed in a quiet dark room

i took a wellness class in college and our teacher taught us this trick that put us to sleep in class: start at your toes and little by little work your way up your body relaxing each body part. go slowly so you really release the tension and i find that by the time i am half way up i am so relaxed. hope it helps.
