Yes. Go to a Red Cross pet first aid course to learn how to do it without hurting your dog more seriously.

Actually, CPR is Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, and is NOT related to the Heimlich maneuver either.

yes you can. Feel the abdomen where the ribs end (just like us, but theirs is on thier bellies) if you need to do the Heimlich maneuver push forward toward their head. not hard as, as you would for humans.
But the Heinmlich manourve apparently is out of date with humans and ou should always 'hit' their back to dislodge anything their.
As for a dog, it is simlilar - first pull thier tongue out and make nsure there is nothing in their mouth, throat.
if this doesn;t help, place a 'sharp blow' with the flat side of your hand between the shoulder blades, or both hands of either side of the chest..
check the mouth again, if the object hasn't been dislodged, do it again - don;t hurt the dogs (you know the difference)

ms sexy thang the heimlich maneuver isn't mouth to mouth that is CPR.
Anywho yes you can administer the heimlich to your dog if your dog starts to choke but it is different than on humans and most times dogs can cough up whatever they are choking on.

Absolutely, only problem is that most people will try to do it on the wrong part of the dog.
It won't do much good if you do it up on the rib cage, the maneuver needs to be at the location of the diaphragm which is at the bottom of the rib cage.

Yes, but I would only do it on my dog, cause i know where her mouth has been. But you know they say a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's.
