Yes, you may use your shower gifts before the wedding.
However, I'm going to give you advice my mother used to give me when I was growing up - you shouldn't use ANYTHING you've received as a gift until you've sent a thank-you note for it. :)
All kidding aside - it's a good practice to go by. It'll help you get those thank-you's out faster!
Best wishes to you!

You are actually supposed to open them at the shower. A popular tradition is to use the ribbons from the gifts at your shower to make a bouquet for the rehearsal.
Just remember to send thank you cards for those presents too. If you can, get it done before the wedding, or else it'll just pile up!

Most people open them right there at the shower, and bridesmaid records each gift and who its from. Another tradition is for your maid of honor to make a "bow bouquet" of ribbons and bows on a paper plate so you can carry it as a prop for your rehearsal.
If you are not living together, do not use them until after your wedding. You might want to return/exchange after you open all of your wedding gifts.

Opening the gifts is usually part of the expected entertainment at a shower!
So yes, you do open them and you may use any you find immediately useful. Have fun with them.

As soon as we got our gifts home, we opened them up and started using them. We didn't wait till the wedding. My cousin and his fiancee asked us the same question about a week ago!! The only things we didn't use before the wedding were the things we got FOR the wedding. I was running the dish washer and the washing machine for days switching out the old for the new. It was soooooooooo much fun!!! Enjoy it!!!!

Once a gift is given you should be able to use it. A shower gift is usually given to help the couple prepare for their joint home.
I know that some people have said wait to use it until you actually say i do, but once a gift is given then it should be enjoyed and utilized.

Don't think there is a correct or incorrect answer to this. Yes of course you open them, but I think I would keep them until after the wedding unless you are already living together. Congratulations!!!
