Where is a good place to stay in Saratoga Springs? Do any of the hotels offer shuttles to/from the track?

It is generally pretty difficult to find anything inexpensive in Saratoga Springs during the racing meet unless you book way in advance (rooms tend to get booked months/years in advance).

I've previously stayed in Latham (Microtel or Cocca's) or Clifton Park (Best Western), which are generally about $100 a night. Latham is about 20 miles south of Saratoga Springs, but what I've done is to leave for the track super early each day and you get there in about 20 minutes.

As far as staying in Saratoga Springs, I'm sure you can find a place that has shuttle service, but I would expect the accomodations to be pretty pricy. I was looking myself on Travelocity the other day for a weekend in mid-August and most of the hotels in Saratoga Springs were completely booked at anything less than $350 a night or so..

Anyway, good luck.

I agree with the above two answers. Stay along the Northway (I-90) South of Saratoga (north you run into Lake George tourists). I've had good luck in Clifton Park, Latham, Colonie and Albany (near the airport). I used to go up during the off season and stay in a fleabag motel for $50/night. I went up one weekend in June and paid that, two weeks later (the week after the 4th of July) I went up and they want $189 a night. Racing season didn't start for another two weeks but they raised their rates as soon as the calendar hit July.

Might be a little late to find any accommodations at the spa
at this point. Even the flea bag places are probably booked.
Many places have a prepay ,non-refundable within 30 days policy. A few years ago I lost about 200 bucks because I had to cancel within 30 days of my reservation;
and It wasn't even a classy motel.
You might have to settle for a place south like Albany, Schenectady or Troy; or north, like Glens Falls.
Call a few places, maybe you'll luck-out and find one. The Summer racing season is a big money maker for the local economy, so bring plenty of $. They like $ :)
