F.Y.I. This is the first time he has forgotten my b-day. I keep dropping little hints to see if he remembers. My b-day was Sunday (6/24) I don't want to come right out and say " Hey ya' big jerk, you forgot my birthday, HELLO,but it's been three days. what do I do? And do you think I'm being petty about it?

And this is what I mean by the mind games women play. Why wouldn't you just tell him. Men are NOT mind readers. They are men. He doesn't mean anything by it. He isn't insulting you. Just tell him. The longer you wait the worse he will fee.

I think it is a reasonably common thing for men to forget special dates like birthdays and anniversaries. I find it unusual that you have been with him for a long time and not only did you not mention anything about your birthday before hand but you still have not mentioned the fact that he forgot your birthday 3 days later. I think that if it was me and he didn't wish me a happy birthday sometime that morning that I would have said "hey ya big jerk.....". He is a jerk for forgetting but now you are prolonging the agony by playing silent games. I think you need to up your communication with each other to a level appropriate for a 3 year relationship. If you had been just a little more vocal you could have celebrated a nice day together.

Is there something really important going on for him right now like a big project at work or something? Or is there something that may be weighing down on him like a really sick or dieing family member? Is he having money problems, just lost a job? If something like that is the case then that's likely why he forgot.

If not, talk to him about it, nicely. Sometimes people forget things, and this sounds like the first time he's done something like this. Sit down and tell him that your birthday was the other day and that it seems like he forgot about it and that it made you fell bad. See what he says to that. If responds callously or overly defensively then you may have a problem. If he seems to legitimately feel bad and express a desire to make it up to you, then you're good.

Naah, that's not petty - I'd be hurt, too.

He may just have gotten very busy and doesn't realize he missed it.

A way to tell him without making him feel like you're yelling at him - go to the store and buy a little bitty cake. Stick a candle in it, and bring it to the table, and tell him in a cheety voice that since your birthday was Sunday, you thought you'd get a cake for it.

He'll remember that he missed it, and retribution will be made.

I bet he will feel really bad about it when he does remember or is told. I would feel bad too if I was forgotten on my birthday but I wouldn't insist on making him feel guilty about it. Just say something like lets go out for dinner to celebrate how much I love you and my birthday.

Join the club. It has been 17 days and my guy friend has not realized he missed mine either. Yes you are being petty. Guys just are not into stuff like this (birthdays, sweetest day, anniversaries etc)

Urgh no you have every right to be upset. But you dont wanna seem pethatic right? so you just call him up and tell him> oh thanks for telling me happy birthday and laugh. Then see what he does.. maybe he's got alot on his mind lately or maybe he's cooking a surprise. Good luck Aya!

I dont know if you speak arabic but judging from your name I think you do.. so if you do you can just call him up and right after he picks up say 'wenta tayeb'.. that should remind him!
If you dont speak arabic just ignore that : )
