I have accidentally deleted some important Word documents from my Windows XP and also, joy of joy, deleted them in my recycle bin. I thought about doing a system restore, but would this bring word documents back? Thanks

Doing a system restore would not bring your documents back. What you need to do is get a undelete utility and avoid installing, copying, and editing new files until you've successfully recovered your documents with the utility. The file is typically still on your disk, but the entry that points to it is removed when you delete it in Windows. The undelete utility would re-associate the file, bringing it back. Try out http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/

Sorry, this would not bring back your deleted items. System restore is for restoring a system back to a previous state of operation. System restore does not affect user files. If MS Word crashed on you and you did not save then you could retrieve the files, however I sense that this is not the case. Did you happen to possibly email these documents to anyone? If so you will have a copy of these documents in your sent items as attachments.

Good luck

programs like "tune-up utilities 2007" have an undelete function however you need to pay for this program. cheer up though you can download a trial version "see link below" and see if this helps. good luck.

Sadly no. I take it you have done a good search for backups - you might get something back that way.
