I am proud to say that I am a gentleman, not only to my wife of 20 years, but to any woman that I can be. My mother taught me to respect women and to treat them nicely. I still open the door for my wife (even the car door) and, when walking, I am always on the traffic side of the sidewalk. Before I was married, I've found that women responded better to politeness and courtesy. Even now, I get a nicer response from women when I am a gentleman to them.

Gooday Yin, Sorry To Hear You Have Had So Many Problems And Are Thinking Gentlemen Are A Thing Of The Past. I Must Admit We Are An Endangered Species And Becoming Rarer By The Day. May I Assure You I Would Never Steel A Parking Space From You And If I Saw You At A Road Junction I Would If It Was Safe To Do So Let You Out Ahead Of Me. As For Opening Doors, Car Or Otherwise Let Me Assure You I Still Do Just That And Not Just For Ladies Either. Anyone Who Appears Less Able to Stand On Public Transport Than I Am Will Be Offered My Seat.
Have A Gooday Darl.

I am so glad I can say the answer to your question is "yes". And judging by your other answers, it feels like I am living in a secluded or remote utopian society. But quite to the contrary, I live in the real world, just like you do - but I am surrounded by well behaved and handsome gentlemen. I am married to one, but there are many more around where I live - you would be hugely and happily surprised. And yes, it often has a great deal to do with the way they are raised, but moreso it is dependant on their core beliefs about the value of women in this world being great and wonderful. That is why gentlemen are gentlemen in the first place, right? It's nice to be valued so much.
I still know men who rise when women enter the room, who open doors for women they don't even know, and that is only the beginning of it. :) I'd be happy to help you find this beauty if you are seriously looking.

Well, today, I still think there are gentlemen, although they're endangered. I think it's partly the women's fault that there are few gentlemen here. It's because we now live on the world where everyone is equal, and women are competing against men in careers and survival. Women today are acting tough (although some are really tough). They tend to be like men. Some women won't allow men to pay for their dinner, for example. They are showing the men that they are not weak and they could do things themselves so men won't underestimate them. But there are men who are not really raised properly, and they are not courteous.

Yes there are.and they will always be so, it's in the 'breeding'.
There are also a lot of pretenders, who are polite for ulterior motives.
The worst 'pretenders' are those that only behave courteously towards those of the opposite sex that they find 'attractive'.
A true gentleman treats all of the opposite sex as ladies.

Its just that men are tired of women trying to tell us how we should act. Women are always demanding things and courtesies. I've gotten parking spaces snatched by women many times. Personally, I would never snatch a parking space from anybody whether its a lady or men. I hold doors for anybody, men and women.. Maybe we all should start doing the same rather than just expecting or demanding it. Love you all.
I also have to mention the many times that I've held the door for a lady and all she does is grab on tight to her purse and not say " thank you" I'm surprise that you have failed make that observation since you seem to be very observative.

If you find one, hold on to him! In my opinion that tells you a few things:
A) His mom raised him right, so he must have a decent family
B) He probably has a decent job because he has good manners and shows respect to people.
C) He is probably bright and doesn't spend his life watching Cops and Jerry Springer, yelling at the TV and spilling food all over the rug while he unbuttons his pants to scratch himself.
LOL

Few and far between and I think it has everything to do with the way people are raising their kids today. Not too many teach their kids respect anymore....and I think it has mostly to do with kids having kids nowadays.

Lots of frogs out there!!!!!!!!!!
As old fashoined as this seems, I think that mothers need to install good manners and how to treat a lady or hey, elderly, or the general public as well, in there sons (and daughters too- lots of "me me look at me" teenage girls out there)
My husband is a good one, but it's not like he came in a box this way- he needed a little coaching, but at least the basics were there!
