try the following:
1. Nivea body lotion (see if theres one for sensitive skins)
2. Dove body lotion (very gentle, very effective - smear it on thick!)
3. baby oil in bath, then moisturiser when damp/dry
4. when baby is sleeping try vaseline (petroleum jelly i think its called in other countries) - i used to get very very bad dry skin (cracking at times) when i went upcountry to the drier areas. I used dove during the day and i smeared my chin (the worst part) with vaseline at night. worked like a bomb. I know my skin is not like a babies but its VERY sensitive...
good luck... if all else fails take her to a skin specialist...
for the itch - im thinking of a chicken pox remedy that i used on myself and my twins 2 years ago - try bicarbonate of soda, a cupful in her bath, it relieves the itching. and also calamine lotion after the bath (pink liquid that people use for burns etc.

my niece has exzema and the only thing that we found that got rid of it for periods of time (months at a time). Is called skin supplement the original formula lotion from Tahitian Noni company. It really works I use it all the time even on my face and great if you burn yourself (sunburn or hot pan from the oven). It's about $24 for a 6.76ounce bottle. Sounds like a lot but it last a long time. Here is there website www.tahitianNoni.com. Only bad things is it is not sold in a regular store.

Olive oil. My daughter had extremely dry, flaky skin for a couple of months after her birth. My midwife suggested rubbing olive oil all over her and it worked great. Her dry skin cleared right up. Because olive oil is all natural you don't have to worry about harmful ingredients.
Also, whenever you bathe your baby squirt a bit of baby oil into the bath water. I still do that and my daughter is nearly 2 years old now.

My baby had dry patches. The doctor told us to put lotion on them as soon as he got out of the bath, while his skin was still wet. The wet skin helped his skin absorb the lotion. The dry patches went away in a few weeks.

Nivea or Eucerin...they work really great and have oil in it so that the skin stays moisturized. My daughter who is now 3 had eczema really bad as a baby and I used Nivea & Eucerin on her and it really works.
Cetaphil is good for people with sensitive skin, but it also makes the skin dry....so dont use cetaphil.

My 3 year old had the same problem, and we tried Eucerin Calming Creme on her. It was kind of expensive, but after a few days, we saw results. Her skin was smoother, the icthy spots were gone. I continue to use it on her. I have also heard that humidifiers are supposed to be great also.

Hmmmm we have this problem. We use a prescribed cream twice a day, and an aqeuous cream all the time. His arms are bad at the moment, so I slap it on every time I change him. It's very much a process of trial and error, I understand. What works for one child, doesn't necessarily work for another.
Good luck
