find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise (running) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The treadmill is just a gadget for people who don't want to (or can't) run or walk outdoors. You just run/ walk on it for a set amount of time.

I think most people recommend at least 30 min. of walking/running per day for the exercise to have any effect on your body. Start out at a slow pace, increasing as you feel like it. I bought myself one of those strap-on heart monitors, so I can see that my heart-rate is not going too high, but is high enough to be considered a a proper aerobic work-out. The monitor came with a pamplet and a chart for calculating the right range to keep within, depending on your age and your resting heart-rate. Recalculate as your fitness improves.

You're quite tall; 70 kg might actually be the right weight for you.

I have had really good luck using the "grade" function on the treadmill at my gym. I think all treadmills have them. You start at, say, 3% grade, then gradually increase untill you are sweating and your heartbeat is in a good workout range. Try to walk briskly at the highest grade you can manage. I walk for 35 minutes four days a week and I am mostly at 13 - 15%. Believe me, at this grade, and four or more times a week, you WILL lose weight.

I have the best luck using the hills function on my treadmill.
This way you have spurts where you really have to struggle, but then it eases off before getting difficult again. Saves on your body and you can go for longer periods without as much fatigue.
