It all depends on how you view it in you're own heart. The bible can be interpreted so many different ways that others quoting scripture may not be the best way. If you read your own bible, you will find the answers.

It's called "masturbation" and it's not mentioned in the Bible. There is one obscure verse which spoke of a man spilling his seed rather than impregnate his brothers wife he'd been made to marry, but he wasn't exactly masturbating at the time.
The reason it's not mentioned is the same reason the Bible doesn't mention how to pick your nose, scratch your own back or file your nails.

It says absolutely nothing. Plain and simple. The only mention of it is in the story of Onan, in Genesis 38.

Two parts of scripture come to mind - What makes Onan's sin even worst is that this sinful act was a display of hatred of his brother. Jesus in the New Testament clearly indicates that the lusting of a women is sin in itself.
Genesis 38:8-10
"And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that HE SPILLED IT ON THE GROUND, LEST THAT HE SHOULD GIVE SEED TO THIS BROTHER.

THOUGH THE BIBLE DOES NOT USE THE WORD "MASTURBATION" IT IS CLEAR THAT ANY KIND OF IMPURITY IS CONSIDERED SIN. MASTURBATION IS CONSIDERED IMPURE BECAUSE OF WHO AND WHAT YOU ARE THINKING OF WHEN YOU ARE DOING IT. ALSO IT IS A COMPLETELY SELFISH ACT AND WE KNOW SELFISHNESS IS A SIN.
THE ONLY WAY IT CAN BE OK IS WHEN YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE (YES, IN MARRIAGE) ARE PLEASING EACH OTHER. ANYTHING DONE OUTSIDE THE CONTEXT OF MARRIAGE IS IMPURE AND THEREFORE SINFUL
WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT, GOD HAS ESTABLISHED HIS WAYS AS THE WAY TO HEAVEN AND WE MUST ABIDE BY HIS WAYS TO MAKE IT TO HEAVEN, IF YOU BELIEVE IN GOD.
