I believe that Reverend Falwell, a man who spent a career demonizing others, will always represent the power-hungry adulteration of evangelicalism only.

At best, I'd say that he has done more damage to the Christian faith than any Christian leader of the past 100 years.

Absolutely not! If I were a Christian I would be appalled at the idea that he indentified himself with my beliefs. He was a selfish, greedy, self-serving waste of skin. People speak of his "great works"...like what?! Do they mean how he blamed the attacks of Sept 11th on homosexuals? Or do they mean they way he perverted a children's show and insisted that it was serving some phantom homosexual agenda? Oh! Or maybe they mean he was great in the way that he judged others (a big no-no in the Christian faith according to their own holy book) and criticized them for having beliefs that differ from his?

I'm sorry to be so blunt but Jerry Falwell was a Grade- A JACKASS and surely reserved his seat in the Hell he so strongly threatened others with.

No, that honor goes to Jesus Christ. Mr. Falwell, like all of us, was a flesh and blood man, and subject to every temptation imaginable. Satan knows that if he can bring down just one praecher, he can bring down an entire congregation. That Mr. Falwell withstood the pressures of his post is most admirable, whether you agree with him or not.

Fundies ate him up, he was their idol. But to Christians of the mainstream he must have seemed a throwback to the 'thirties, when several American radio preachers as popular as Brother Jerry were castigating the Jews of Europe. Then came the Holocaust.

Christianity has nothing to offer. God offers you salvation, through His son, Jesus Christ.
