Why do people still eat fast food when they know it's bad for themselves?
Is it bc it's faster and easier?

I think so, at least partly. Some eat it too often because of their busy lifestyle. School, work, kids, no time to cook or they don't know how to cook yet.

Some people who grew up eating it, actually prefer it over real food. Sad but true.

One of the main reasons is that people think it's "affordable." Because of corn subsidies, processed food makers can buy corn for less than what it costs to grow it. This leads to cows being force-fed corn and corn by-products being used constantly as ingredients in food. For example, even fast food burgers now contain high fructose corn syrup in the meat.

In addition to the many corn-based ingredients, fast food literally contains petroleum. Of the 40+ ingredients found in a chicken nugget, 7 of them are made from oil. One is literally a form of butane (TBHQ) and another is a known carcinogen and mutagen. These petroleum-based ingredients are included because oil subsidies make them cheap and they increase the "shelf life" of the foods.

Keep in mind though that everyone pays for those subsidies through their taxes. That means that not only do you loose more of your paycheck, but other things like the price of cars and your own heath insurance are affected by these subsidy programs.

The end result is that studies have shown that the poorer among us are now the more overweight and the most afflicted by chronic disease. The more affluent are buying whole foods, avoiding processed foods as much as possible, and studies are also showing that they are generally healthier too.

The growing of corn also consumes a lot of petroleum too. Conservative estimates are that it takes 50 gallons of oil to produce 180 bushels of corn (about 1 acre). This means that it takes more that 1 calorie of petroleum energy to produce 1 calorie of corn energy. This makes you wonder what good Ethanol is...

I'd say it's because it's cheap, quick, and people are stupid.

Now, having fast food every once in a while isn't a big deal, but when you eat it every day, that's too much.

Its availability. You can term in convenience too. Since it's there, why cook or look for another. It's also cheaper in a sense. It's also straight-forward. No decors, no appetizers. "I just want to eat something."

That is one reason, but I think some of us like it.
