Praying as a public show is not favored by God, hence his instruction to pray in secret.(The parable of the Rich Man praying in the Temple illustrates this). The temple of your soul is the internalization of the religion, living it day by day, employing it with all your dealing with other people. It becomes your second nature. But, we are also told not to forsake the company of believers-that means we should go to church--for the preachin' and the teachin', as well as the fellowship.

Hi there!!
I worhsip anywhere and everywhere in prayer and in song!!
Specially when I am doing the housework it makes a boring task more easy; but joking apart you can worship in silence too...if you see something you are grateful for; nothing and nobody can stop you from saying a silent prayer of thank you or if you are faced with a difficult situation or decision yet again you can say a silent prayer to ask for help...I have done it lots of times when faced with tough situations!!! (Mark 11:24)
Like in one of the other answers Jesus did teach us to prayer in secret ( Mathew 5:6) but I will encourage you also to go to the Church / Temple to pray with other believers. You will find strength in meeting with other believers!!!
Hope that this makes it a bit clearer for you!!!
Take care and God Bless You!!!

you can pray anywhere, everywhere, anytime, since God is in our hearts, whereever we go He is also there. Religion does not mean just precepts, a temple, monastery, or other external signs, for these as well as hearing and thinking are subsidiary factors in taming the mind. When the heart becomes the practices, one is a practitioner of religion, and when the heart does not become the practices one is not.

I believe the passages you refer to were about Christians praying to God and not just making a show of prayer. In earlier times (and many times today) people make a great show of how holy they are and how much they pray. We are told not to make our prayers vain repetitions. This was because so many thought you could just say certain prayers over and over and that satisfied God. But God wants to know what it really in your heart. Of course He already knows but as with any loving parent He wants to talk with you about it.

We should worship some with others. But we should worship more by ourselves, everyday. Pray in church, but pray everyday at home, or where ever you can, and where it is needed.

I don't worship, because I'm an athiest. However, I don't particularly care when or where anyone worships, provided that I'm not forced to worship with them.
