I am moving from Michigan to Florida and I was told that I have to take my 26 foot uhal and stop at the florida agricultural inspection stations. My problem with this is that I am transporting my pets and they do not all have shots. They will be in cages and sedated. I am unsure whether a rented uhaul is required to stop or not?

From the regulations:
"Florida Statute makes it unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, other than those exempted by the statute, to pass any official agricultural inspection station without first stopping and submitting the vehicle for inspection. Those vehicles not required to stop include: private passenger automobiles with no trailer in tow, travel trailers, camping vehicles, van conversions, and motor homes, or pickup trucks not carrying agricultural, horticultural, or livestock products and which have visible access to the entire cargo area, or city, county, state, or federal vehicles."

The agricultural customs inspection stations are located along the northern border of Florida. They are usually along the main highways into Florida. From my experience of traveling there, you can breeze through the border if you are driving a passenger car, a camper, or a pickup. If you are hauling a trailer, driving a big truck, or an 18 wheeler, you are required to stop at the inspection station.

Also, be aware that it is illegal to bring certain animals into Florida, especially snakes. Python stakes have become a big environmental problem there.
