Not at all. You have to take responsibility for your life and that means to be true to yourself by being a good and valued member of society whether it be at work or play. As long as you treat people with respect and kindness along the way, you will do just fine. If you are in a position where your career tends to erode into your family life, then it may become a problem but only you can answer that. Remember we are only here for a short time so enjoy what is important to you but not at the expense of others. You can have it all and not be selfish, it's all about balance! Good luck!

I guess that depends. Is this person thinking about their career and not taking into account anyone else's careers or feelings?
I had a friend who wanted to relocate states because he really liked the career opportunities for him. He started obsessing with moving there and taking the family along. The problem was that his wife's job was nonexistent there. At least not until she re-qualified which with the laws in the new state meant basically redoing her education. That was a bit selfish of my friend and was one of the factors leading to the end of the marriage.

In any situation one should take care of her or him self first. Unless you act according to the situation and take care of yourself who else will help U. Then comes helping others. No question of feeling that You are selfish and self centred Especially in your education,life career etc. one should take care of themselves.Go head as you are All the best Yours VRVRAO

I dont think thinking about one's career comes under the category of being selfish. U have to put urself before to some extent afterall its ur life isnt it.
