Increased number of low cost airlines means it can now be as cheap as taking a bus. In real terms whats more important, our time in a hectic fast paced world or the overall effect it's having on the environment?

It's easy in thinking about global warming to get distracted by relatively minor things. This is one.

To reduce global warming we should focus on the important things. Using less energy by making more efficient cars, factories, homes. Developing alternative energy sources.

We don't have to stop doing things.

You don't need to feel guilty. There are things you can do to more than offset the emissions caused by your flight and most airports have machines where you can calculate the environmental impact of your flight and purchase the appropriate offsets.

It's quite expensive this way, doing your own offsetting is much cheaper - you can plant a tree for as little as $0.20. You could plant a small forest for $1000 and offset your family's greenhouse gas emissions for life.

It all depends on the purpose of your flight. If you were needing to travel anyway, then by no means should you feel quilty. I kinda prefer an aircraft's pollution over that of a bus - it's hard for everyone on the ground. Ever get caught near a bus?

Yes we should feel guilty. Airtravel is one of the fastest growing sources of Co2 immissions. Its no good moaning about 4x4's, and recycling your glass bottles if you take loads of flights a year. Hectic lifestyles aren't necessarily an excuse, if you take the train you can get loads of work done during the journey, away from many office distractions.

Don't feel guilty at all. Enjoy life while you can. That's the way I look at it. I'd fly all over the place.
