This Chef AKA Hail2TheChef If He Was Home In Australia Instead Of Stick In Blighty Would Probably Make Tomato And Basil Soup Using My Best Chook Stock As A Base. Fry Off Some Onions Till Transparent Add The Equivalent Of One Large Can Of Pealed Plumb Tomatoes Or Blanch Some Fresh Ones So You Can Peel Them Easily. Add To Large Pan On A Moderate Heat And Simmer Till Reduced In Volume As You Want Rich Tomato Flavour. As My Mate From TV Would Say Add A Good Grind Of Sargent To Bring Out The Best From Your Tommies. Add Your Stock Till Desired Consistency Is Reached And Pass Through A Sieve To Get Rid Of Any Unwanted Bits From The Mix (Seeds Etc). I Usually Add A Good Glass Of Whole Milk And Chopped Fresh Basil At The Very End And Serve Hot But Not Steaming With Mixed Italian Herb And Cheese Toast.

sorry about your finger - nasty tin!

i am having a rye bread sandwich! my first since i discovered rye bread that's in a square loaf and soft enough for sandwiches. i made a nice fluffy egg and lentil omelette last night to put in the sandwich and am very much looking forward to it. i've also got some mashed parsnip and some tenderstem broccoli on the side.

ooh, i'm hungry now....

I'm having chicken and boiled egg sandwiches with salad cream. Never had them before, I thought I'd make something different today.
