I just want to turn up at the airport money in my pocket suit case packed book my flight and a hotel, fly out on the same day and go away for two weeks, anyone done this before? whens the best day of the week to do it? whats the best UK airport to do it from? any other pearls of wisdom to share with me?

Yes a couple of lady Friends of mine went to Heathrow each year with a small pack of essentials.
They asked what was available for the least money, and took the trip, SA, Mexico, Malta and many other places

you wont get a full package at the airport, only flights so you'll be left to find transfers and accomodation upon arrival.
Do an expedia/last minute search on line the day before and book what you want then just pick up your tickets at the airport.

Depends on your budget, but you may not get the best deal just turning up at the last minute. You can book deals a few days in advance so makes more sense to do that.

i have never done this before
when i want to go on a late holiday i go on first choice holidays

look on the late deals
and i get one really cheap!!!!!
the best time to go is in the week, the holidays are more cheap and more avaliable as most opt to leave at the weekend!!
