Do you know what is wrong that would cause the pain in your back/spine? Pain management doctors can be helpful for other treatments besides pain medications. Have you tried physical therapy, and other treatments? There is also something called a Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) which can be very helpful for people with back pain, but depending on what is causing your pain this may or may not be an option. You can get more info on SCS's at www.ans-medical.com i would suggest seeing a pain management specialist to see what they recommend doing for your pain besides pain medications. Good luck!

And, what's wrong with your spine, you don't say, although you say "your heavily on pain meds" so, I'm guessing you have something seriously wrong? right?
I see a pain management doctor and have for years. I have a serious spinal problem that's incurable, there's nothing left for me but, drugs. I wait until I'm in tears before I take them.
I'm so tired of surgery, and doctors with needles too. If you say your on pain meds this heavy there are options. There's upper dermal shots to deaden the nerves for a time. Sometime they works for months and will let you live a somewhat normal life, for awhile anyway.
Then, of course, there's surgery, it's better then drugs all the time.

My first question would be have you tried physical therapy, chiropractics, or acupuncture? If so and still not better see a pain management specialist. They have many ways to help with pain, not just pain meds.
