My two children cannot decide on what to call our 3 month old ginger female kitten. My daughter wants to call it Lilly and my son wants to call it Lavender. Any ideas?

Hi!

I would say that out of the two, Lilly would be better - only because cats tend to recognise 2 syllable words more than any other type!

To make your son happy, you could always give her a middle name! Call her Lilly Lavender, and when you take her to the vet for the first time, you should be given a booklet which will have her name written on it. Then at least your son won't feel so upset that he didn't get to choose the name.

If it helps, my cat is called Morrissey, but we call him all manner of things like Moo, M'Scoober, Musky Moo, Monster Moo, Magoo, etc! He responds to all of them, and in time your children are bound to have nicknames for Lilly anyway, which the cat will most likely respond to!

How About Marmalade Or Tiggy Darl, Particularly If She Has Stripes? TANGO If She's Just Orange Ginger?
Or If She's Striped Call Her Spot Just For A Laugh!
Whatever You Decide Have A Gooday And Don't Choose Gingger Or Mingger.

We've had cats in the past and just got a new kitten.

Her name is Isis.

there was also nala, josephine *jojo* cleo, sophie, opal and belle :)

Choose names that have no more than 2 syllables, so the cat will recognise the name quicker.

choose a name that you feel comfortable shouting in the street if she's going to be an outdoor cat. you dont want to be yelling FATTY and get laughed at :)

How about a combination of the 2 names, like Lillender or Vendilly.
