Consider this statement of fact: The atoms we now perceive by our senses through the use of sense-enhancing instruments ,like the electron mictoscope and X-ray diffraction devices, were initially an imagined idea, or group of imagined ideas in the minds of Democritus and Leucippus. A t the time these Ancient Greek thinkers lived, there was no scientific evidence that atoms existed, The idea somehow arose in the imagination as they pondered on the nature of reality.

Clarificatory note: Last time I looked Imagination or imaginative t hinkingand Abstract-conceptual thinking were separate abilities. Pls address the former not the latter. I believe Piaget did so. Abstract-conceptual thinking is not a characteristic of low IQ's while imaginitive thinking is.
