I was just wondering did the star trek TNG writers get their idea of the Borg from the popular TV series “doctor who” that are called the Daleks? For EX: the Borg say resistance is futile and the Daleks say resistance is useless, Coincidence???

good notion, however when I first saw the Borg on STNG, I immediately thought of the Cybermen not the Daleks. The process for transforming humans into either Borg or Cyberman is strangly similar. Wheras a dalek is made up of a "Lump" of organic matter plastered into an armored shell.-LOL,Rogue

Well the best way to say this is NO. Cyborgs have been around since before WWII and the Cyborg since the mid '60's. While I am sure that Daleks are cyborgs, because they are a "creature" that have been infused with a machine, they have nothing really in common with the Borg.

Maybe Cylons.

Of coarse the could have stolen the Borg, from Cybermen.

It is more ikely that the idea for the Borg was influenced by the Cybermen, who are a race of cybernetically enhanced humanoids bent on modifying the human race and turning us all into Cybermen (upgrading, as it called in the new series).

The production crew of TNG certainly were familiar with Doctor Who. A screen display in The Neutral Zone lists the names of all the actors to have played the Doctor up to that time.
