i am getting my first car this month and i just got my license... i don't have anyone i my family to help on this process so i am doing it on my own...i am now negotiating the price of a ford mustang with a dealer...i live in maryland and they have this thing called the no haggle price so the price of the car is listed as the invoice price which is $17,395....my first question is how much money should i try to get the dealer to knock off of the car and is the reliability rating on the ford mustang good... i really don't what to buy a piece of Sugar Honey Ice Tea... this car isn't really my dream car but it is a great sub ... then i will like to know does this car needs plenty of maintenance... i know a little about the oil changes and tunes but does this car needs anything else and can you please add links to sites that would help with making a great choice ... i really don't want to suffer with buyers remorse

Is this a new car? If it is, then you can go to a web site called www.blueovalnews.com and see if you can find someone who wil give you an 'X' plan number.
Employees use the A plan and that is the employee discount. There is also the 'X' plan, that is used for family and friends of employees.
You can ask to see the invoice, and tell them you are a X plan buyer. The real no haggle price will be on the invoice. You are also entitled to the other discounts and rebates that are offered to the general public.
If you have a problem getting a X plan number, email me and I'll give you one myself. good luck.

As far as the maintanence for a Mustang, they are normal or average. Oil, water, air....
The reliability issue should not be a concern for you.
I have owned 3 Fox body Mustangs, and loved them all.
The price is rather good, so I do not know how much more you could expect to get taken off, especially with a "no haggle" policy.
I also would opt for the convertible, and as a fresh driver with a warm license, I would stay away from the high power engines.

As for the Mustang reliability it is fine. As far as the price, shop at 3 or 4 dealers and let them work the price down for you. Last of all, being it's your first car, check with your insurance company first, Mustangs are high insurance especially if it has a V8. I made that mistake when I put my teenage daughter in a Mustang, the insurance was horrendous.

My best suggestion is to contact the Internet/Fleet department at the dealership. If they don't have one, keep looking at different dealerships.
Ask to see the FACTORY invoice, not the dealership invoice.
Somewhere around the bottom of the invoice you will see PPP Price, a EP price, there are usually three of them. I don't remember what they are...the EP price is the Employee Price if you work for the dealer or manufacturer.
Take that price, or the PPP price, deduct any rebates you qualify for and start there for your purchase price.
If they refuse to show you the factory invoice, get up and walk out, and don't come back.
Internet/Fleet offices are way less hassle than the retail floor.
The no-haggle price is a crock. They are telling you what you will pay, not what you want to pay...and do your research! Edmunds.com or KBB.com

All I know is for a car that costs that much, you better have a darn good job, your payments are going to be about 300 a month if not more...good luck!
