I am looking at hooking up my PC to HDTV to watch live streaming footy from the net.
Just wondering if anyone has done this, & is the picture quality any better on the TV than on my PC monitor.
Oh, & as I am buying a new PC soon, is there a certain graphics card or something il need to get the best quality picture on my TV?!?!

Does your TV have a DVI input? If so, get a card with a DVI output. If not, get one with a HDMI output.

So long as your PC isn't a lumbering pile of junk and you don't have the most sensitive and accurate eyes in the world the main thing will be quality of the stream. Of course an HDTV will make it look nice, but if it's a crumby stream then all it will be is a crumby stream presented as accurately as possible. A good PC monitor is essentially the same quality as HD anyway (I think?) so you may notice nothing.

I have gone from an awful graphics card to a very good one recently and video playback has seen no noticable improvement, although could easily be different on an HDTV...ask whoever you buy from. And try and get your pc from a someone who knows what they're doing, ie avoid PC World or Dell or whatever, if you're British try http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk

I did this a couple weekends ago so I could watch the Bonnaroo concert live. I use an HD projector and basically just plugged the laptop into it and Viola!

I was very surprised at how well the picture was. Of course it depends on the quality of the stream, but the picture I got on my projector (TV) was much better then an my computer monitor.

fyi.....If you pickup a copy of wm recorder for $50 you can actually record the stream and save it as a file to watch later.

There is an ATI video card with HDMI connection, believe it is model 1950 or similar.
