Michael Jackson converted to Islam when he learned more about it from his brother. His brother is working at the US base in Bahrain. After the trial of MIchael, he left the US and bought a house in the Island of Bahrain & stayed there. His relationship with his brother became very stong. After he stayed in Bahrain for few months, he declared his conversion. There are many articles in google, I provided you by one.
I know all of this because I am a Citizen of Bahrain and it was all on local news at that time. Michael has left Bahrain now though, and the press did not mention where he left to. But I believe his brother is still here.

Michael Jackson is a seriously damaged person. He makes all kinds of claims as to his beliefs. I would not put too much stock in anything he says.
He claimed to be a Jehovah's Wittiness before.

He used to be a Jehovah's Witness, but not a very good one. He celebrated holidays/events quite a bit and that's not allowed in that particular religion.
