When I join the Navy is it 2 years active duty, or 4? I don't care about the reserve stuff afterwards. I would like to serve 2 and get out so I can grow my hair out among other things.

I don't know, but whatever the answer is, you'd better get it in writing *before* you sign the enlistment papers!

WTH? The Navy does not have the National Call to Service Program anymore which was 2 years active 2 years drilling reserve. The minimum active duty time is 4 years with 4 years in the IRR after that. You really seem like you should be looking at civilian careers if your hair is such a major issue for you.

ALL contracts are for EIGHT YEARS. period. end of subject.

the shortest Navy commitment is National Call to service, which is 15 months of Active duty -the clock starts after you finish all training, followed by a mandatory 24 months of Reserves. you cannot get out of the 2 years in the reserves, and at ANY time during the first 8 years you can be called up again to serve.

all other contracts will typically be a minimum of 4 years. The Army might have a 2 year contract, but they are also the ones being stop lossed a lot more.

The correct answer is a 4 year enlistment is what you can do in the Navy. The only way to do anything shorter is to join under what is called the "National Call To Serve" program. Under this program you have a much smaller pool of jobs to choose from. May I asky why are only wanting to do 2 years so you can get out and "grow your hair out" What are you looking to get out of the Navy. I am sorry but I will tell you that the opportunities the Navy offers usually outweigh having long hair.

I don't think there is a 2 yr enlistment, but I could be wrong. Ask your recruiter, and get it in writing, because some stretch the truth. I think it is 4 years, or other things like the 3-3-3; which is what my son did. Three years active, three reserve, three inactive, during which you may be called back to active duty, of course, you can also be called back during your reserve time.

When I was in the Navy, the minimum length of time that you could serve on active duty was 2 years. If you go this route, you have much fewer options as to what training you will receive and what type of work you will be doing. The 2 year guys that I knew were all in Deck Department. Let's just say they were hard workers. A good rule of thumb to remember is that the shorter the time, the grittier the job. If you want a cushier job and your ASVAB scores will support it, go for a longer enlistment. My experience was great. I loved it.

the way the debt pay off application works is they A) take a undeniable volume off your verify each and each month to pay on your loans, or B) spend your enlistment bonus (presented you acquire on off objective) on your debt, that's computerized so which you're able to by no potential omit the money. they are able to even do the two. so a ways as enlisting is going, tell the reality approximately your debt a minimum of. they'll locate it whether you attempt to conceal it, i've got seen human beings lose their jobs because of the fact they could no longer get a clearance simply by debt.

We are at war! If you sigh up for 2 years, they can still keep you in longer if this situation gets more out of hand. If you sign up for more than 2 years at least you may get some good on the job training and education.
