No, I think you're confused.

Baptists believe she was his mother but that she shouldn't be given Sainthood or have other "powers" attributed to her.

To CATHOLICS, the Virgin Mary is a holy person and a saint.

To BAPTISTS, she is simply someone's (ie; Jesus) mom and no more important than any other human.

Make more sense?

Of course not, every Christian believes the Nativity story, its just that most do not think Mary's position made her anything special. When Jesus was raising the little girl from death, a great crowd had gathered and Mother Mary and her other sons attempted to stop Jesus because they thought it was madness. At that time, Jesus rebuked them and told the crowd, something along the lines that one has to turn away from what their family thinks. Nowhere in his ministry does he give her any special powers, so to think that she does is following pagan beliefs.

I am Catholic and there is a great misconception that we rise her to the level Of Jesus, but we definitely believe she is special and is holy because she did not deny God or question her role in the birth of Jesus. When someone is sick you ask the people around you to pray for them why not her, it is hard to understand why you would not ask Mary to pray to Jesus for you, if you believe in Heaven , you know she is there.

to do believe she is the mother of Christ... but do not believe that she is 'our mother' nor do they hold her in a position above any other vessel of God that He has used to do great things, like Abraham, Jacob, Isaiah, Daniel, John the Baptist
