I believe it has to do something with the Mayan calendar and 12/12/2012... Not 2009..

(If the world does end on 12/12/12, that'll be the worst birthday present my dad's ever gotten.)

You asked: "what is the belief that some people believe that the world is going to end in the year of 2009?"

I think they're called Bush voters.

NO one not even the Son of God knows the day or the hour of his coming. No one knows when or IF the world is going to end except for God. There has been some wackos around since the time of Christ predicting the end. Too many false Messiahs deceiving people to the point they kill themselves. In many ways I wish the Book of Revelation was never written it's caused too much suffering. Too many false wannabes trying to interpret it to deceive others. As for the Mayans only they know why their calender ended in 2012. Maybe be an oversight or maybe its just where they left off. They are my ancestors and even I don't understand them. Remember these are the same people that one day just walked away from their magnificent cities and temples for reasons unknown. We cannot understand why they did it. We must not assume that the world is going to end to in 2012 cause we really don't know the WHY behind the Mayan Calender. Put your faith in your God and stop believe myths and legends. We just don't know and till we do we shouldn't assume the worse.

Just about every year the world is supposed to end. Doomsday prophecies abound. Even centuries ago people in this Northern-European town were so convinced one year it would be the end they didn't bother planting crops-- of course, the world went on, but they had staggering death tolls from starvation the next winter.

So far of the thousands, maybe millions of end-of-the-world prophecies, none have come true.

hey listen! i dont know who says what but i ve been listening to such 'super predictions' since i was in school....

first i heard, "last day of 1999 is the end of all the computers and all the gizmos..."

i was scared as a school kid, but nothing happened....

then i heard "2000, end of the year is the end of the world"

there was no end!

i dont care and u shouldnt even listen to that crap!
if it was super convincing and reasonable, then dont u think it wld ve been all over the newspapers and tv???

-------
2-3 days ago i read in the newspaper that some comet or asteroid [i dont remember what exactly it was] MIGHT hit us in 2039 or something like that, but there are 90% chances that it ll be repelled away cuz of some gravitational theory.....

something like that , i may not be accurate.... but who cares!

what are they saying this time?? that alien is gonna hit us with a huge sized titanium ball...??? hahahhahahha!!!

even if they say, i still dont care!!!
peace!

The Aztec calendar ends at year 2012. That is when the world will end. I don't know what you mean with this 2009 crap.

People have been saying that the world is going to end in the year ____ since the beginning of time. Just blow it off. You have no control over it anyway. I've lost count of how many times it's been supposed to end in my lifetime alone....(34 years).
