i would think that you would always have the option of being self employed. tupperware, mary kay, amway, also what about an internet home business. what about car salesmen ? learn a trade and be a free lancer, graphic arts, programming, web design. sure there are many others, just can't think of them.

i would also keep trying for a regular job with benefits, health insurance. maybe not all companies say no ? investigate so thoroughly ? any chance of ever getting the record expunged ?

The best job would probably be maintenance crews on construction site, which I am not familiar with southern California. Machine shops who operates on garage repair(s), you could probable ask for them on the goggle site or ask your local agency for them, and your local churches for any information for other resources for jobs available for people who have felony record.

Felons who go straight from now on should be help by the government to make themselves useful again in society.

One of my friends lives in SoCal and he has a felony record. He's got a felony record, and last time I heard he had a job as a bartender and then a commercial painter.

Restaurants and fast food places, especially if you can speak English and Spanish. Start as a dish washer and move your way up to chef! Learn to cook. Take cooking classes in your spare time. A good chef can get a job anywhere.

Did you get any job training in prison? Good Auto mechanics are always needed. Good luck.

Both Goodwill Industries and Catholic Charities have programs to help people with criminal backgrounds find jobs. You could contact either or both of these agencies to see if they might be able to help you.
