I am Jewish and I dislike how some people say you have to believe in Jesus. But why not the father?

I am not hung up with Jesus. Basically, the Father in Christianity has some resembelance to Jewish God, but I do not believe in the father.

'Believe in him"? ... Hell, I knew him since I can remember, until he died in '72. ... "Belief"? Pfffft!

Nobody can tell you what to believe in. The Jewish religion is the oldest religion there is. Yes, we Christians believe in God the Father, Jesus his Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Jewish people never accepted that Jesus was the son of God, because his teachings were different from the priest in the synagogues. They could not comprehend why God would send his son to die. None of this changes the fact that we all worship the same God, and it is our choice what to believe in.

Well, it's in the Bible. The Father is apart of the Son and the Holy Spirit. You can't have One without the other Two. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6) The Father demands that you not only accept Him, but His Son also, because Jesus is the One that washes away your sins. Otherwise, you can't enter into Heaven after death. You can't go just to the Father, because no one is worthy. Jesus died for us and is our Mediator, because the Father is too perfect. No one said you HAVE to believe this and I am not pushing it on you in any way. But I'm just telling you what I know. It's a good question, though. Thank you.

P.S. God also ordered, after Jesus died, for the disciples to go and preach the gospel of Jesus to not only the Gentiles, but the Jews also. It's clear that He was trying to say that the Jews, like the Gentiles, need forgiveness from Jesus also.

Because the Father sent His Son.

That's simply put. But in order to respect the Father, you have to respect the Son. He told the Jews about it before, they just didn't see it. I know some Jews that believe in the Son, they don't have a problem with Him.

Remember in the scriptures?
Psalm 45
6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

God is more complex than Jewish people want to allow. Yes, He is one. But that's not all of the story. It's in your scriptures for any to see.

Jews don't believe in Jesus as Savior. Jews believe in God and that a prophet will evenually come. You can't be Jewish if you are so hung up on Jesus.

This is why we have the first ammendment... I grew up in a Jewish household for about a third of my life, then christian, then atheist... IT's because of people pushing religions on each other that we have so many problems in the world. I really think that if there were NO religion in the world, it would be a lot better. Besides... No religion makes sense. I prefer logic, not faith.

Well, Jesus is all love and sunshine.
While the bible god is a rather monstrous character.

I think that might have played a big part in the shaping of Christianity.

What's wrong with believing in your sisters and brothers? Are we not descendant of one father?

You can. There is nothing to say you HAVE to accept or believe what Christians tell you.

You can believe in anything you want, for any reason you want.
