The people that die have an allergic reaction and die of anaphalaxis so you're in the clear at this point.
The pain is caused by a component in their venom called melittin and also by histamines produced in your body after the sting. The histamines cause the welt and redness.
And for this guy up here, take it out as quickly as possible to reduce the amount of venom injected, the easiest way is to scrape it off with a credit card or something similar just don't squeeze it.

Most times, you experience swelling and discomfort. Then it goes away. The only way you would actually die from a bee sting would be if you were allergic, or if you had been attacked by a swarm. You see, the pain is caused by the tiny bit of venom that the bee's stinger injects. Most times, it's not enough to really be a threat. But allergies and swarms are a whole different matter.

If you get stung by a bee and you start to itch all over and swell all over you better get to the hospital and fast. If you get stung by a bee and you get sore and a little red at the bite site but nothing more then you will be OK. The people who die are the ones with that are severely allergic to bee venom and they go into anaphylactic shock when they get stung.

You have to be allergic to bee stings to die from it. An allergic reaction is hives, cold sweat, dizziness, and other symptoms, as well as SEVERE swelling usually, if that happens call 911.
Otherwise, just carefully remove the stinger, or DON'T touch it and wait for it to come out [usually the stinger comes out on its own anyway]. Also, if you do see the stinger in your toe, take pride in the fact that the bee is now dead.

Yep, you can die if you're alergic to bee stings. It would've happened already though. You'll be fine.
