No, he's probably pretty much the same.
But we have technology now. We can be dishonest more efficiently.

That is a good question
I would say Yes to the fact these days they know they are going to be caught out.
Back 2000 years ago I guess they just thought most people were stupid

Did you mean MORE honest?
I'd say they are likely equal in levels of honesty, having read many historical accounts, including and specifically on crime in history.
