I love it. I work at a children's hospital.

Advantages
- When you make a recommendation to a doctor and it is used I feel valuable.
- Nurses are appreciative.
- Don't have to deal with insurance.
- Good hours (I like 12 hr shifts).
- Children's hospitals are less focused on money than adult.

Disadvantages
- Retail makes more money than hospital
- I have to work weekends.
- I had to work on night shift for a while before finding a day shift that I wanted.
- I hate it when a child dies. (I attend codes.)

Is an awesome job! I have travelled around the world working as a pharmacist - talk to interesting people, help sick people, chat to other staff and make sure the methadone patients stop stealing all our stock!!

No. It is as exactly as it appears. Individual pharmacists can make the best of it though, and some jobs are better than others.

don't you love it when non-pharmacists answer?

The nature of the job is not what makes it fun, it's the people you work with. In my pharmacy we have fun when it's slow. When it's busy we work our butts off!
