I have been at my job for 5 years and am very informative. I am doing things that other people would not even consider doing. I have been looked over plenty of times now for a promotion and have started looking for another job. I have mentioned to my management that I am willing to accept more reponsibility. They give me the responsibility but not the title.
What do employers look for when considering their employees for promotions?

It could simply be a matter of not getting what you're not asking for. Try being more specific. Simply asking for more responsibilities does not always mean a different position. You should never assume that your manager is reading between the lines. Schedule a meeting to talk about your "career path" where you can discuss what you'd like to do and how you can get there. Then as positions become available, your manager will be more likely to consider you.

Statistics show that men are promoted and moved up by staying at the same company, but women are not. Women are promoted and moved up by changing companies. Women are just automatically ignored, and men are just automatically promoted.

So leave the company.

As for what we look for to promote-a person who cheerfully does everything and not just what is their own job. A person who does it extremely well, correct, and asks for more. But because you are female that won't get you promoted. Leave the company and get your promotion elsewhere.

Ask the company, Is there any vacant to a higher position, or does the company afford a higher salary? Beside you ask for more jobs/work not a higher position for a higher salary. that's very different baby.
It does not matter whether you are a woman or man, as long as you are qualified to the position and your boss see your potential, you can get it.
BE ASSERTIVE!!!

to be perfectly honest they are screwing you over! Lots of times companies you the responsibility, the stress, and overload of work! yet they don't give you the things that go with all of that! the title, pay,or recognition! I say get your resume together and a fresh business suit for interviews and get the hell out of there! you deserve to be rewarded for you hard work and dedication to your job! I am certain you will find somthing ALOT better!!! GOOD LUCK!
