The historian Josephus who lived from 37AD to c100AD makes mention of Jesus and Christians.
Here is an exerpt from the historical writings of Josephus taken from the Antiquities of the Jews, Book 18, Chapter 3, Verse 3:
"Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day."
There are several historians from the first few centuries that mention Jesus, such as Origen, Turtullian, and others.
The best testimony to the fact that Jesus was God's Son, sent to earth to "bear witness to the truth" is the Bible itself. Jesus teachings contain things that show great wisdom. Also, the hundreds of prophecies written hundreds of years before Jesus came to earth bgear witness that Jesus actually came and fulfilled them.
Don't Christendom with all its hypocrisy and lies destroy your faith in Jesus Christ. Not all people who claim to be Christian really represent Jesus as his disciples. (Matthew 7:21-23)

As he was alive, no. I'm surprised to find any within 100 years though, because typically executed religious leaders do not gain any historical attention. For instance in Acts it mentions another religious leader who was executed. No one demands historical documents proving that person's existence. There were many executed leaders of that time.
So you do not get many writers commenting about Christ until Christianity made its presence known and its disciples spread throughout Italy and Greece. As the Christian sect grew, so did the people documenting it. Naturally they say little about Christ beyond what the Christians believed.
I assume others will post some quotes so I don't really need to re-post it. Pliny the Younger is good though, he mentions the Christians vowing to do not misdeeds, worshiping Christ as a God, meeting in private houses, being sent to Rome if they were Roman citizens, and also the presence of female church leaders.
The Talmud is another good, though older, source. It affirms that Jesus performed miracles and that his birth was unusual, but they attribute his work to magic and sorcery, and his birth to rape. But of course they would say that, they were merely countering the Christian claims of the virgin birth.

Jesus Christ's divinity and the reality of He being raised up are two of the most well documented events in ancient history.
There are even originals of report to kings of that time in which the scribe refers to the events described in the Bible.
More information is provided in Lee Strobel's (a journalist) book: "The case of Christ".
