You are still young enough.

The National Guard is a good choice if you wish to continue your civilian career during times that your country doesn't need you. The Reserves are very similiar but different.

The Army has raised the enlistment age to 42 (for Active Duty, Reserves, and Army National Guard),

The Army raised the active-duty age limit to 40 in January as an interim step while it worked out the additional medical screening requirements for recruits ages 40 to 42. Before The Army Reserve age limit was raised from 35 to 40 in March 2005.

More than 1,000 men and women over age 35 have already enlisted since the Army and Army Reserve raised their age limits to age 40.

You have plenty of time. The age limit for National Guard and Reserve is 42. If you can pass the physical fitness test with no problem you should go for it.
