So that the people I give them to will still be able to seal them without a mess?

I mean to make the cork airtight until they open it?

Glass bottles with plastic screw caps work well too. Decorative ones can be found at kitchen stores, craft shops, hardware stores and gift shops. Or recycle bottles from your kitchen; decorate w/ transfers from a craft shop or print your own decorative labels using a desktop publishing program. If your printer is an ink jet printer, spray the label, after it is applied to the bottle, w/ clear paint to prevent the inks from smearing if they get wet.

The old way to seal bottles was to put the cork in and then melt candle wax over cork.I found it was quite good to put cork in first ,and then push it down to just under top of neck, and then seal with melted candle wax.

Dip the corked bottle into melted wax just around the top.

Easy-just use hot wax, all around, will seal out the air and everything else. You can use wax from a candle.
