Not allowing the Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson to qualify and starting them at the rear of the field are pretty big penalties in and of themselves. I just don't see how NASCAR justifies docking the drivers and teams 100 driver and owner points and suspending the crew chiefs six weeks with $100,000 fines apiece.
Have you seen the egg crate, the cradle that they built for the little Car of Tomorrow? It's huge. It drops down over the top of the car and incorporates every template known to man. There's hardly an area on the car that it doesn't document and verify.

Obviously, they forgot to put a template or a check point on at least one area of the car because that's the area where No. 48 crew chief Chad Knaus and No. 24 crew chief Steve Letarte worked. Ever since racing, teams have put templates on the cars and looked at what's left. If there's a place where you can kind of work around that template, that's always been acceptable. That's never been a problem.

In the past, if NASCAR saw something on the car that the template didn't check, they might say, "Don't bring it back that way anymore. We're not going to accept it. We don't want to see it." Or they might even make a template off of that car that weekend so you and others don't try to do it again.

UNFAIR

The drivers lost 100 points and the owners lost 100 points how is that funny? I mean seriously, he owns the #48 so that must mean he has alot of money to spend in the organization on team to have that kind of success. I mean he has success to so Rick Hendrick has alot of money to spend in his team and the whole organization to make them what they are. They are totally dominating this year so how is this funny?

This isn't funny at all. Of course he'd lose owner points, he owns the car. You must have a weird way of thinking if you think something like this is funny. The best part is Gordon still leads the points.

Why is this hilarious? Seeing as how Jeff Gordon OWNS the 48 car he would lose the owner points you retard.

Laugh it up, because there will be an appeal and they will get this reduced and possibly completely overturned. After all the rule violation in question was in regards to a rule that wasn't even on the books. A first year law Student can handle this case.

I don't find it funny for Gordon just like I didn't find it funny for Dale Jr. I did like the fact that the penalties were consistent

I'm definitely not a fan of either but it was wrong. NASCAR has finally lost there minds with there penalties to parties that have had nothing to do with the breaking of the rule. Thank the good lord we are just talking NASCAR and not our ruling government.

It's about time the playing field got a bit more level....Hendrick's have been favored all season....seems like a trend....hmmmm!
I love it when the BIG ones get caught cheating.

It's interesting that yellow flags are dropped AFTER Jeffy leaves his green flag pit.....and how cautions get thrown when Jimmie needs a tire fix....NASCAR, you are making BIG mistakes with this one sided Henrick's love fest!! You are losing fans by the minute....at least you redeemed yourself a bit with these penalties.
NASCAR:
I will NEVER forget the cheating YOU started by not dropping the yellow at Daytona and allowing Harvick to pass Mark by racing to the start finish...YOU are the ones who made that rule...you broke your own rule and allowed Harvick to win....that's just plain wrong. Mark let up because he is a seasoned driver who follows the rules, fully expecting a caution that never came....forcing him to race Harvick to the line. It should have never happened. Had the field been frozen like your owns rules dictate. Mark would have won. I believe you started all this years cheating....after all what's good for the goose.....
