A friend of mine is the head training instructor on a large department. He not only watches the program, he tapes it. He then edits the tape for incidents in which the cop does a good job of handling an incident. He also collects badly handled incidents. He then uses the tapes as short "roll call" training.

They probably do, but I have no idea why they do because
they already have to deal with the scum of the earth everyday
and see things that no one should ever have to see.
I don't approve of police violence, but when you see how
nasty some of the SOB's they deal with are, you can't blame
them when they lose it once in awhile.
My brother in-law was a police officer, one day he answered
a domestic disturbance call. Turns out some idiot guy
nailed his little girls hands to the floor in front of the TV,
his reason was that he was trying to break her of her habit
of watching so much television. My brother in-law wanted
to beat the crap out of the guy. The little girl was only
8 or 9 years old.
Next time you get pulled over, try to be polite these poor
guys get enough harassment for trying to do their jobs.

I dont know if my uncle watches cops but he allways has us laughing every summer when he tells us all about his daily escapades as a Police Officer. He really loves it!! I really think that they need to take away his tazer. The ones that allways talk crap to him he just gets him when his police car camera wont see. I cant wait until August because everyone is getting together in Florida to hear more stories. They should make a show about him!!

The last thing on my mind after I come off shift is to watch another hour or so of stuff I just got finished doing. I doubt I'll ever be on an episode; too small of a town.

Police officers often watch "Cops" to know the perception of the people.

The only Police related shows I enjoy are the CSI series.
I was in a T.V series in 98-99, called TURKS, with William Divane, and a few episodes of E.R.

No, thank God i haven't ever starred in an episode. I doubt that cops watch stuff like that when they get off. Most of them would probably just want to get away from all that because they see enough when they're patrolling.

I watch it if I have time to watch it. My Dad is also a retired cop and watches it, my Mom used to be a cop and watches it every weekend. Although, Court TV's Most Shocking is better to watch ;)

I love that show!!! But imagine if you were a cop??? I would doubt it. I would not come home from work and want to watch a show about dispatchers. LOL, some might, but I would think they have better things to do.
