If you turn away from Christ because you cant forgive others who sin, you yourself are sinning. And basically doing exactly what it was that turned you away in the first place. How can you turn away from Christ, the only one who has never sinned, because other christians sin. Everyone sin. You sin, I sin, we all sin. Thats being a hypocrite. And also a sin.

You know, I'm not sure. I know several of my friends that are pagans or other religions that stated "I am not a Christian because of Christians." However, I think that's very, very sad. I don't think someone should choose to follow a religion because of the followers or NOT follow it because of the followers. My relationship with God is between God and me -- no one else. I think it's sad that people look for excuses not to follow God rather than sitting down and evaluating their own lives. People get angry at Christians for being judgmental, but when a non-Christians refuses to follow God because of the lives of other people--that is also being judgmental. Think about it.

Many people find sin a turn off. Interestingly since ALL people sin. But its only when a notable christian sins that it becomes a media headline.

Unfortunately, too many people expect Christians to be "perfect", thinking that if God's Holy Spirit dwells within them, they will not sin.

Actually they don't realize that we are probably more subject to sin and temptation than non-believers, as Satan is always trying to get us to sin, especially publicly, where non-believers can see and become disillusioned.

Add to that, Satan has his own versions of "Christianity" which leads to much confusion among people who hear conflicting and distorted messages and have no idea who to believe.

That, and what better way to keep people from becoming Christians, than to have Satan's servants be bad examples of Christians?

Accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord does not free us from sin. As long as we have flesh, we will be subject to sin and will sin despite our best efforts.

But Christians strive to keep from sinning and strive to follow God's Word, until the day we die and become perfect in His sight, through Jesus' redeeming sacrifice. And with acceptance of Him as Lord and Savior, we are forgiven of our past sins, and can receive forgiveness of present and future sins.

Expecting Christians to be sinless is unreasonable, yet others seem to want to hold us to that impossible standard. We are human, and are subject to lust, greed, anger, envy, rebellion and the whole gamut of sins that Man suffers under.

The important difference is that we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and to help us to avoid sin. And we have the assurance of eternal life after death, if we continue to follow His commandments and have faith in Him.

IT wsn't the only reason, but it certainly was a major factor.

I could not continue to be around people who could not be bothered to follow the precepts they preached so loudly.

Everyone is a hypocrite to a degree, bu that degree of hypocricy is too much for me to deal with.

if your gonna allow another human to dictate your walk with God then you wasnt sincere in following him anyways. that is a very bad excuse on why you turn your back on God. 1st every one is going to sin otherwise Christ died in vain. 2nd why would you care what they do, they cant do anything to your salvation?

i turned away from Christianity for many reasons but one of the main reasons was the kind of character it created of me. when i was a Fundy Christian my attitude and behavior was atrocious but i was so convinced i knew "The Truth" and had a mandate to "bring souls to Jesus" that i failed to notice my self righteous arrogance. my demeanor was no different than that of my Fundy Christian peers but it was my own behavior and attitude that disgusted me and turned me from Christianity. i'm grateful to have escaped my Christian childhood conditioning. i'm a nicer and happier person now.
