I have umpired baseball for a softball team for a number of games now. I joke around and talk with some of the players on the team. One player, who was exceptionally friendly and talkitive to me, had her friend ask me for my number after the game. I gave it to the friend. Now i think that may have been a bad idea. She is going to be a freshman, a well developed one at that, in high school and i am going to be a junior. What should i do if she calls or wants to hang out or something? Should i be friends with her? I dont want to be mean, she is nice. I just think she may be too young. Thanks!

By giving her your number you basically gave her the green light for her affection or infatuation. Now you have to deal with it.
Think of a serious relationship like this; You'll be taking a sophomore to the senior prom and then will be dating a high school senior when you're a college sophomore; perhaps a little awkward. At this point she's still got 3-4 years to go before she's
"legal". You are both a victim of raging hormones. You're playing with fire. Run, don't walk away from this one.
Hope that you have caller I.D. on your phone.

Well, tell her that you feel uncomfortable because of the age difference. But if you really like her, hang out with her, but set limitations, like, you're not going to take her to an all night party and let her drink, or whatever. Friends are perfectly fine to be with her.

One of my close friends is in that situation right now. He's about to be a junior, and she's about to be a freshman. In mine, and all of his other friend's opinions, she's a little immature. But on the other hand, another friend of mine stopped talking to me for 3 days after he found out that I was 2 years younger than him.

It's really how you tell her.

i once had the same problem, i was talking with a group of girls and they liked us, they told us they were freshman, i was a sophomore at the time, so i thought it would be okay. some time later i found out the they were really in 8th grade. the problem was is that i was starting to like one of them. i thought they were too young also. they are, i say wait until they are in high school, they are officially freshman, then go for the gold. anything in high school is fair game.

Well, if you mean that you are a junior in high school and that means there is only two years between you guys thats fine, if you like her...but if you feel she is too young, you perception will taint any chance of a relationship, so i guess its up to you.

well a freshman/junior age difference isn't much at all, 2 years max. its still legal that way as long as you dont have sex.
though legality isn't the question here...

I dont think she's too young for you no. I'm 17 and dated a guy who was 21. worked out great for us until my mom decided he was too old.

I'm sure you'll work out just fine.

when you are a junior you are suposed to go for the "fresh faces" lol thats what we do here. when your the youngest you go for the semi oldest and when your the semi oldest you go for the youngest. but 10th and 12th graders get it kinda different, but HEY thats how we do it here soooo, just go for her if you like her cause if you are both in high school theres no problem cause you are BOTN IN HIGH SCHOOL theres no such thing as too young. but think whatever you will

Now I know she's only 13 I want to change my answer. You shouldn't have even given your number to anyone that young, no matter what she looks like. 13 year old girls are so trying to make a name for themselves with older guys and it could only mean trouble for you and her. Back off the young girl(s). Date girls you own age.
