He got in because of Bush's popularity with Independents and Republicans at the time. It was during the "patriotic" fervor in the country that the California GOP took the opportunity to get rid of Gray Davis, a Democrat, by a recall process with an effective campaign to show he squandered tax dollars on electricity for California. They got Arnold who was popular in Hollywood through a recall election. No, he had no experience in governance or politics. He was married to a Kennedy and promised to get Bush to help California which never happened. Like the Daily News headline in the '70s, "Bush To California: Drop Dead". The GOP will say he failed due to the Democratic legislators but it is because he did not know anything. He increased our deficit from 8 billion to 42 billion and even the stimulus did not help. He increased the sales tax to 9.6 per cent and stripped down Medicaid. I hope they don't elect Meg Whitman of Ebay for that reason. She has no experience in government or politics either.
