I have a friend that picked up a faith NEW for less than 1800, if you can get a grand for a faith without upgrades do it now!

I find that funny that your football team considers bicycling "risky". Football is actually more dangerous than cycling.
Football was the first sport to have helmets, years before bicycle helmets were invented. In the 1970's , if you wanted to wear a helmet while bicycling, you had to get a football helmet, because that was all they had.
I would say keep it.
I think there was a very big story in the news a few months back, where a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers was ridning a motorcycle without a helmet and had an accident. Bicycling with a helmet on is safer than motorcycling without a helmet.
Cycling is one of the best cardio- workouts you can get. I would think that cycling would improve your performance on the gridiron.

Are you sure you'll be able to sell a 05 used freeride bike for 1,800 usd? Good luck!

If you can't mountain bike because of futbol, probably BMX would be off limits, no? I really don't know but I think that's as risky as freeriding.

About my coment regarding price, it's not sarcastic, I really don't think you'll get that much for a bike designed for heavy use.

Probably buy a bike designed more for trailriding that wouldn't be considered as risky as freeriding, or try road biking and do some speed runs.
