Peter -- and all others. This is not a political question, it is a theological one. Sorry I did not clarify, I was hoping the context of R & S would provide that for me.
Was Jesus a Liberal Theologian - not accepting the Old Testament as literal truth, not willing to accept the miracles of the Old Testament, timid or embarassed by the God of the Old Testament.
Or was Jesus a Theological Fundie -- believing every word of the Old Testament, Honoring the God of the Old Testament, preaching from, quoting from, and clarifying the meanings of the Old Testament?
Jesus had a specific view of scripture. He was confident in his position. What was it? Liberal or Fundamental?

...For they locked him up as he was unclean....
...He spaketh things unknown to the priests of the temple and yea he was smote down for his wickedness....
Uh, there are several people named Jesus in SW USA and Mexico...please, oh please, don't let him preach.

I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father, but through Me.
John 14:6
Not tolerant of any other god or person to access the Father.
Matt 5:1-5
Mohammad wasn't born when Jesus was on the earth and Islam wasn't thought of yet.
Not tolerant of men having their own "favorite" beliefs.Must believe scriptures.
2 Tim 3
Scripture is 100% accurate and not to be interpreted as a person wants to.
Romans 3,6,10,
Acts 2:21
Jude
Matt 24-25
Rev 18-22
Jesus is the way to salvation.
There is a Heaven and Lake of fire (use an interlinear).
Conclusion: (won't win me a popularity contest)
Jesus didn't become tolerant 35 years ago.
(never changes).
People need to read the bible & not make stuff up.

Jesus was a raging liberal!
Blessed are the *peacemakers* for they shall be called children of God. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth Turn the other cheek. Love your enemy. All this stuff is in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5-6).
JC was not stingy with the free health care. Ask Lazarus. How many lepers/sick people is the man said to have cured? He stood up for prostitutes. Remember 'let he who has not sinned cast the first stone'? He fed the hungry - didn't he feed 5000 by turining bread into fish or something? Ask JC "Who is my neighbor?" and see what he has to say.
I will not say Jesus would be a Democrat, but he sure as hell would not vote for any of the Republicans and he would not have voted for a rich oil man from Texas (educated in yankee schools). Jesus would be about doing positive things to enrich peoples lives and less about persecuting and taking rights away from people.
Jesus was a raging liberal.

He would be both. The Bible, in many accounts is very liberal. It teaches everything from equality and social programs which are on the liberal side of the scale to absolute morals and justice which is opposite. He would not fit into either category very well at all.

Jehovah´s witness according to Isaiah 55:4 "Look! As a witness to the national groups I have given him, as a leader and commander to the national groups.
5 Look! A nation that you do not know you will call, and those of a nation who have not known you will run even to you, for the sake of Jehovah your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he will have beautified you. "
Also the whole chapter 17 of John.
Revelation 3:14 "And to the angel of the congregation in La·o·di·ce´a write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God"

I really don't know...? I think it would be unfair to label Him as one or the other. In many ways He appeared liberal in not living by the law yet remaining loyal to the law. He did not conform yet He did not wavier from the truth. He enriched what was already there without removing or replacing anything. So in many ways He was both and not either....mmmm

Love cannot be bound by such labels. Each side likes to think Jesus would belong to it, but these sides don't understand how truth is scattered across the spectrum.

He'd still be Jesus and preach the same... when you read your Bible, or when you are around someone who is truly living for God, how do you hear HIM /, because He is still alive and here.

Let me get this straight.. you want me to prove that Jesus was a liberal and you want me to use a fundie method? He was a liberal and would be a liberal and a Democrat. He would not be a bible thumper.

I think he would be Jesus.
Mother Theresa, Gandi, John Lennon and more people like them just stated there beliefs and faced life like you me.
I do not think he would preach the same as 2007 years ago.
I think he would preach for this time, this place.
