I went to a pentacostal church with a friend of mine who belonged to it when I was in high school. It was so funny. People were falling down in the aisles and speaking in tongues. I've never seen anything so hilarious in all my life.
There's a word for it. Mass Sociogenic Disorder.

I'm not apostolic/pentecostal, but let me tell you something when i pray and tears come down, usually is a repent of of my sin or sin of others, the holy spirit talks through to you To you. and repent came along.
I definitely is a comfort, as the holy spirit is the counselor, well we have him as a counselor and sometimes we don;t even see or know the whole picture but he ( HS ) does.
I feel so much better after I cry , sometimes loud sometimes quiet, when I don't cry I don't feel i can keep going, I get stuck.
Its worst, so crying is like a refreshment.
Have you hear a sad face is good for the heart.
Its better go to the house where is sadness than go to the a House where is happiness.
Now don't get me wrong doesn't mean you have to been crying all the time, the Joy of the Lord is our strength,
so there must be a balance, and moment for all this, remember everything has a time under the sun.

There are times when I come before God praying in the spirit and my heart is overwhelmed to the point of tears.. Either because I am very sorrowful or overjoyed. I have never felt the pouring down on my head sensation you described, but I have experinced the peace and calm that surpasses my understanding.
I almost always cry when I enter into the prescence of God because I know I am so unworthy to be there. But so grateful he loves me enough to allow me to be there

No offence taken I am a long time member of the first church of God and I know the feeling. My sister married into babtist and she says she feels the spirit too. I don't think God treats any cirtain religion as the only one. He has a wide range of worshipers from all walks of life. In other words what ever works for you.

I felt that too... nowadays that kind of prayer is very badly needed inside and outside the church, with the different trials arising in our christian life... prayer is the only key to overcome.
that kind of prayer is very special, it is a type of prayer mentioned in Romans 8:26-27

I think you are letting yourself be fooled into believing that something is happening that isnt actually happening... the mind can be quite powerful when we truly want to believe anything, that said perhaps you are also feeling some kind of divine spirit, you definitely are not the first.
